Why Bicton is the place to be this October

Oct 2, 2025

We are set to welcome event riders from across the country this autumn as the October International Horse Trials returns from October 22nd to 26th. Hosted within the grounds of our glorious Grade I listed estate in Budleigh Salterton, the event promises a packed schedule. From the ever-popular Redpost BE80, BE90 and BE100 3-day sections to the final international classes on the 2025 British Eventing calendar, there really is something for everyone. It’s a highlight not to be missed!

Redpost Equestrian BE80, BE90 & BE100 3-Day Events

Redpost Equestrian, the well-known equestrian and country living retailer, continues its valued support by sponsoring the BE90 and BE100 3-day events. These long format competitions provide a rare and exciting opportunity for grassroots riders to experience the traditional international format of the sport.

Plus, new for 2025, Redpost will extend their support to the inaugural BE80 3-day section, offering even more horse and rider combinations the chance to experience the thrill of long format eventing.

Competitors will face the challenge of roads and tracks, steeplechase and cross country with showjumping acting as the final test. It also offers an excellent opportunity to master your autumnal style, with a trot up taking place on the last day. This unique format remains a firm favourite, offering grassroots riders the chance to end their season on a high, while also providing that all-important direct qualifying ticket for the prestigious BE90 and BE100 LeMieux Championships at Badminton Horse Trials in 2026.

The support doesn’t stop there!

Thanks to Redpost’s generous sponsorship, every BE competitor will receive a branded bucket packed with products and vouchers on arrival.

Redpost’s involvement goes further than just fantastic prizes. They will also have a stand onsite from Thursday offering fittings for hats, boots, body protectors and air jackets – allowing you to get kitted out for 2026 nice and early. All of the essentials will be on hand, from event grease to trot-up outfits, and if they don’t have what you need, they can bring it along the next day!

The Redpost team have put together a series of handy blogs on their website for guidance and inspiration, as well as a list of championship kit essentials. Be sure to check them out to ensure you are prepared ahead of your visit to Bicton!

Keep an eye on Redpost’s social media channels, including YouTube, for some invaluable top tips from 4* Event Rider and coach, Cameron Beer. His advice covers how to prepare for the event, how to time the long format cross country and what to expect in the 10 minute box.

We are already hard at work preparing the footing, fences and roads and tracks, riders can look forward to another memorable weekend of competition this October.

Plus, with free entry for BE members and tickets available on the gate for non-members, you won’t want to miss this epic conclusion to the 2025 British Eventing season.

“Bicton 3DE has been a favourite of mine with my horse (Jay) and I having competed there at both BE90 and BE100 level. It’s an opportunity to showcase the partnership after the fitness and technical buildup on educational and fun cross country courses at the end of the eventing season. Plus the Bicton party to end the season is always a firm favourite!” – Brian Leung, member of Cool Ridings.
